As a part of our Ready for Learning Plan, we ask that all parents and guardians screen their students each morning for common COVID-19 symptoms. Things to look for that might indicate potential illness include:
Fever of 100.4 or higher
Sore throat
New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (for those with chronic allergic/ asthmatic cough, a change in your cough from baseline)
Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain
New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
If your student has any indicator of illness, please keep your student at home to minimize the risk of spreading illness to others.
Additionally, Cross County School District has designated a Point of Contact to assist with our response to COVID-19. The Point of Contact will work on contact tracing Probable Close Contacts and serve as the liaison between CCSD and Arkansas Department of Health. District Executive Master Teacher Mindy Searcy will serve in this role.
Identifying Probable Close Contacts (individuals that have likely been within 6 feet for 15 cumulative minutes or longer within a 24-hour of a person who has tested positive for COVID-19) will help slow the possible transmission of the virus.
Throughout the school year, if a student in your home has tested positive to COVID-19 or been exposed to anyone who has tested positive, please call 870-442-2204. This number will be monitored seven days a week and will assist Mrs. Searcy and our response team in determining next steps to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Questions you can ask to determine potential exposure before calling the hotline include:
Has my students had close contact (within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes) with a person with confirmed COVID-19?
Has my student traveled to or lived in an area where the local, Tribal, territorial, or state health department is reporting large numbers of COVID-19 cases?
