Promising Practice

CHERRY VALLEY - Cross County School District is excited to announce that Cross County Elementary Technology Academy has been awarded the 2024 Promising Practice Award by Character.org for its innovative "Creature Chronicles" Literacy Night event. This recognition makes Cross County the only school in Arkansas to receive this prestigious honor.

Character.org, a national leader in character development, certified 199 Promising Practices in schools and organizations across the country. Each program recognized demonstrates a significant impact on students, families, and the community. Cross County Elementary’s "Creature Chronicles" Literacy Night stood out for its creative approach to engaging students and families while promoting both literacy and character education.

“We are extremely proud to receive this recognition from Character.org,” said Jessica Stacy, Principal of Cross County Elementary Technology Academy. “Our 'Creature Chronicles' Literacy Night is designed to inspire a love of reading in our students while encouraging family involvement, and we’re thrilled that our efforts have made such a positive impact.”

“‘Creature Chronicles' not only promotes a love for reading but also strengthens the bond between school and community,” added Character Education Master Teacher Kathryn Pruiett. “It’s rewarding to see students and parents come together to celebrate learning and character growth.”

The Promising Practice Award highlights educational programs that align with Character.org’s 11 Principles of Character Education. Cross County’s "Creature Chronicles" Literacy Night fostered collaboration among students, teachers, and parents, creating a positive atmosphere that promotes academic success and personal growth.
