Alex Coveny

Cross County High School is thrilled to announce the addition of Alex Coveny, a seasoned secondary educator and coach, to its faculty. Coveny will take the helm as the new Head Baseball coach and assistant football coach, bringing a wealth of experience and a passion for student development.

"We are excited to bring Coach Alex Coveny on as our Head Baseball coach and assistant football coach,” said Athletic Director Cody Goulart. “Coach Coveny brings a wealth of knowledge and championship culture to Cross County.”

As an educator, Coach Coveny firmly believes in fostering authentic and respectful relationships with students and student-athletes, enabling them to thrive both inside and outside the classroom or field. His educational philosophy centers around empowering students, helping them overcome learning deficiencies, and creating engaging curriculum that aligns with school and state standards.

"I am thrilled to be a part of a school district like Cross County, which has great culture and support from the community when it comes to academics and athletics," said Coach Coveny. "I am very excited to build relationships with the staff, students, and student athletes at Cross County, and eager to be a part of the school's upcoming success."

Coach Coveny comes to us from Marion High School where he began teaching in 2018. He has successfully taught a diverse range of subjects including World History after 1490, Geography, US History after 1890, African-American History, Civics, and Economics. Through his dedication and innovative teaching methods, he has not only facilitated academic growth but also inspired a love for learning.

In addition to his teaching role, Mr. Coveny has been actively involved in coaching various sports at Marion School District. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities, inspiring athletes and peers alike. Whether as the Head 7th/8th grade football coach, overseeing approximately 140 students, or as the Assistant 9th grade offensive coordinator and Varsity assistant wide receivers and running backs coach, Mr. Coveny consistently exhibits a commitment to excellence and a drive to bring out the best in his players.

As the assistant baseball coach, Coach Coveny helped lead the Marion High School baseball team to remarkable success, securing the coveted title of the 2022 Arkansas 5A state champions.

Coach Coveny obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Memphis and earned his Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He was also an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, demonstrating his commitment to community and leadership.
