Senator Caldwell and Representative Hollowell

In 2015 the Arkansas Legislature passed HCR1008 designating September of every year as “Take Your Legislator to School Month”. During this month legislators across the state visit classrooms and schools so they can better understand the challenges that public schools face as well as seeing the great work being done by educators.

State Senator Ronald Caldwell (R-Wynne) and State Representative Steve Hollowell (R-Forrest City) were guests at Cross County School District on Monday. Cross County Superintendent Dr. Nathan Morris took the legislators on a tour of the high school and the elementary school showing the improvements and renovations that have been made over the summer.

The group also stopped to talk with juniors in the civics classroom. Sen. Caldwell spoke with students about his work as a legislator, how important civic involvement is, and how accessible the State Capitol is for citizens to meet with legislators and testify before committees.
