Parents, Today while strong thunderstorms were moving through the area, out of an abundance of caution, students in the elementary school were moved to the safe room (storm shelter). High school students were moved to the gymnasium, which is connected to the safe room, so that students would not need to travel the hallways in the event of a tornado warning being issued. Because of flickering lights it was determined that students should be together in the gym bleachers ready to go into the safe room instead of being in the halls in the dark. We might experience rain on the bus ride home this afternoon, but severe weather is not expected. As always, student safety is of paramount importance.

Thunderbird Families, With the threat of severe weather through the overnight hours and into the morning we want to ask all parents to partner with us to stay weather aware. We will be actively monitoring the weather throughout the night and should severe weather arise during morning commute time we want to put student safety first. If there is a change to the regular schedule we will let you know as soon as possible through social media and text messages. If severe weather becomes imminent while students are at school each campus has a safe room that every student can access in less than three minutes. These rooms are designed to be the safest place for students during these weather events. Tomorrow morning bus pick up will remain the same as it has previously been this week with staggered pick up times at Kelley’s. Students who are normally picked up at Caldwell Pharmacy will be picked up from 7:00-7:03 at Kelley’s and the bus will then pick up students at the old Junior High at 7:08. Students who are normally picked up at Kelley’s will be picked up no earlier than 7:10. Due to limited parking at Kelley's, please do not arrive early.

Thunderbird families, We know that the recent tornado has affected many of our students and staff in the Wynne area. Our thoughts and prayers remain with you during this difficult time. Cross County School District will be in session on Monday, April 3rd, but we know that attending school on Monday might be a challenge for some of you, and we completely understand. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones first and foremost. We will work with you to make sure that you have all the resources you need to catch up on any missed learning when you return to school. Additionally, if any student needs access to shower facilities or is in need of other resources such as food and clothes, please contact the school. During school hours, call the office at (870) 588-3337 or you may email tbirdinfo@crosscountyschools.com with your contact information and someone will reach out to you. Lastly, on Monday CCSD will only be picking up Wynne students at Kelley’s Restaurant. We will post pick up times at Kelley’s as soon as we have more information. Cross County School District stands ready to support you in whatever way is needed.

Seventh-grade Social Studies students participated in the Jonesboro chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution's annual essay contest. Students were tasked with a prompt featuring the Second Continental Congress. Writers were to assume the identity of a fictional delegate to the Second Continental Congress, inserting themselves in history to create a colonial life, establish an understanding of the times, and assume the duties and responsibilities of leaders of our fledgling nation. We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of our students! Congratulations to our winners and all those that participated! 6th Grade: - Second Honorable Mention, Dylan Spencer 7th Grade: - 2nd place, Addie Clark - 3rd place, Joeli Brown - 1st Honorable Mention, Bailey Culpepper - 2nd Honorable Mention, Mick McClanahan
