From her very first day of Pre-K to walking across the stage this month as a 2026 Graduate with Highest Honors, Jenna Organ’s story is one of many that makes Cross County special.

During her graduation speech, Jenna said:
“Our class may be small, but I truly believe that’s what made it so special. We didn’t just go to school together, we grew up together.”

At Cross County, students are more than just a number. They build lifelong friendships, grow alongside teachers who know them by name, and become part of a school family that walks with them every step of the way.

Jenna’s journey is a reminder that a small school can make a big impact.

Today we celebrate two incredible members of the Cross County family as they begin their retirement journeys. 💙🩶

Mrs. Lisa Paschal has spent the last 2 years at Cross County as a second grade teacher, while dedicating 21 years to education overall. Throughout her career, she has helped shape young minds, encouraged students to believe in themselves, and created a classroom filled with care and learning. Her impact will continue far beyond the walls of her classroom.

We also honor Mrs. Annie Hill for her 6 years of service as a custodian at Cross County High School. Mrs. Annie has worked tirelessly behind the scenes each day to help keep our school clean, welcoming, and running smoothly for students and staff alike. Her dedication and hard work have meant so much to our district.

Thank you both for the countless ways you have served our students, staff, and community. Your work has made a lasting difference, and you will always be part of the Cross County family.

Congratulations on your retirement and best wishes in this exciting new chapter! 💙🩶

This week, something very special has been unfolding at CCE, and we are so excited to finally share the joy behind it.

A couple of months ago, our Character Council began brainstorming meaningful ways they could make a positive impact on our school before the end of the year. During that meeting, one council member shared that a fellow student in her grade, Camden, who has autism, sometimes doesn’t enjoy playing on the playground equipment.

Immediately, ideas started flowing, excitement filled the room, and the council knew they wanted to do something special for Cam.
After talking with his teachers, we learned that Cam loves sports — especially anything involving a ball. It didn’t take long before the students decided that a soccer goal and soccer ball would be the perfect gift.

And here is where many of YOU became part of this story without even realizing it.

Do you remember our Butter Braid fundraiser from Thanksgiving? Because of your support, we had enough funds remaining to purchase TWO brand-new soccer goals and soccer balls — not just for Cam, but for our entire student body to enjoy together.

But our Character Council wanted this to be about more than simply adding new playground equipment. They wanted our school to understand why these goals mattered.

Mrs. Dena Decker, our Special Education Director, met with the Character Council to help teach them about autism, inclusion, and ways they could help younger students better understand and support friends like Cam.

To involve the entire school, the “IXL Kicking for Cam Challenge” was born. Every class, Kindergarten through 6th grade, worked incredibly hard all week to become proficient in as many IXL skills as possible. The class with the highest number of skills achieved earned the opportunity to be the very first class to play soccer with Cam using the new goals.

To celebrate, we held a small gathering with friends and family, complete with some of Cam’s favorite snacks and a simple opportunity to laugh, play, and enjoy the sweetness of the moment together.

And what has this simple act accomplished?
A LOT.

Students who may have never known Cam before now want to be his friend. Conversations about kindness, awareness, inclusion, and sensitivity toward others are happening throughout our building. Our students are learning that sometimes the smallest acts of love can create the biggest impact.

We are incredibly grateful for this moment, for our students’ hearts, and for the many more meaningful moments still to come at CCE.
