🌱 This year, our 4th graders are taking on a hands-on service-learning project: growing a classroom garden.💙🤍Students will help plan what to grow, prepare and plant their garden, care for it throughout the year, and eventually harvest what they produce.
Along the way, they’ll connect science and math to real-life learning while developing responsibility, teamwork, and perseverance. 🌻
Pictured is 4th grader Maverick Kemp receiving a donation for our garden project from First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas! We have also received support from Changes Behavioral Health, Clark Dillard CPA, and Caldwell Pharmacy! We are incredibly grateful for their support of our students and this hands-on learning experience.

🌱 What can the color of soil tell us? More than you might think!
Students in Mrs. Cassidy Cline’s CASE Plant Science class got hands on with soil science during their “Water Colors” activity.
Using soil samples and a soil color chart, students examined hue, value, and chroma to learn what soil color can reveal about organic matter, water saturation, drainage, and overall soil health.
Students used their observations to think like agricultural scientists, investigating the factors that influence soil color and considering ways to better manage soil and water.
Hands on activities like this help students connect what they learn in the classroom to real world agriculture! 🌱

Our Creature of Character for Humility is the honeybee. The honeybee reminds us how humility can be demonstrated in teamwork and helping others thrive. And just like the honey they make, we think of humility as the sticky and sweet goodness that ties all our core values together and makes them even sweeter! 🍯

The University of Arkansas was on campus today to visit with our seniors and share information about college opportunities, campus life, admissions, and what it means to be a Razorback.
Our seniors also had the opportunity to check out the Razorbug and grab a few photos! 📸🐗
Visits like this give our students a chance to explore their options, ask questions, and start thinking about what life after graduation could look like.

Every Tuesday before school, students are sharpening their chess skills and learning strategies like controlling the center, castling early, and getting their knights and bishops into the action.

🏗️ Can you build a structure strong enough to survive an earthquake?
Students in Mrs. Liebmann’s science class put their engineering skills to the test Friday by designing models of buildings that could withstand an earthquake!
Students had to think like engineers as they designed, built, and tested their structures to see how well they could handle the shaking.
It’s a great example of students taking what they’re learning in science and putting it into action through hands on problem solving!
T-Birds Soar with Gratitude!
Mrs. Devon’s elementary class has launched a yearlong service learning project called “T-Birds Soar with Gratitude.” Throughout the year, students will learn about the people who serve our community and find meaningful ways to thank them for the humility and courage they demonstrate each day.
Over the past two weeks, students have been learning about conservation, animals and their habitats, and the importance of clean water. On Friday, they put that learning into action by presenting thank you cards to Sydney Stewart with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission as a way to show their appreciation for our conservation officers.
This project is giving our students an opportunity to connect classroom learning with character, service, and gratitude for the people who make a difference in our communities.
