🚧 Traffic Update 🚧
Hwy 42 past the river is currently under water. Drivers should take Million Dollar Road to Vanndale, then turn onto Hwy 364 and continue to Hwy 193 to reach Hickory Ridge.
Our buses will follow this same route. Please note: this detour may cause a slight delay for students who ride with Mrs. Christina.
We will check the road again in the morning and send an update before routes begin. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize student safety!

Important Bus Route Update for Monday Morning
We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow! Our transportation team has been out checking roadways this weekend, and we wanted to share a few important updates due to flooding:
Highway 42 just west of the school at the L’Anguille River is currently under water.
All Hickory Ridge car riders and student drivers will need to use Hwy 64 to get to school.
Bus Route Changes:
• Ms. Christina’s Route – No change to pickup times, but she will reroute via Hwy 64 to reach the school. These students will be allowed to eat breakfast upon arrival.
• Ms. Dana Hill (Mini Bus) – No change to pickup times, but she will also reroute via Hwy 64. These students will also be allowed to eat breakfast upon arrival.
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we work to get everyone to school safely. We can’t wait to see our Thunderbirds back in the building tomorrow morning!

Electricity has been restored to Delta Gin, and Prom is ON for tonight as planned! We’re so excited to see our students shine and celebrate together—it’s going to be a night to remember.
Here’s the updated schedule for this evening:
• Pictures with Camille – 4:00 PM
• Senior Walk – 5:00 PM
• Prom – 5:30 to 8:30 PM
Huge thanks to everyone who worked quickly to get things back up and running. Let’s get ready to dance the night away!

April showers bring May flowers...and a new character focus!

The phone lines are currently down at the high school and administration building. The elementary school phones are still working. We hope to have the issue resolved soon.. Thank you for your patience!

📚✨ National School Librarian Day! ✨📚
Today, we celebrate two incredible ladies who make a difference in the lives of our students every single day—Mrs. Valerie, our high school librarian, and Mrs. Amanda, our elementary librarian!
From sparking a love of reading to helping students research, explore, and discover new worlds through books, they are the heart of our libraries. Their dedication to fostering curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning does not go unnoticed.
Join us in thanking them for their hard work, passion, and the countless ways they support our students and staff! Drop a comment below to show your appreciation! ❤️📖 #ThankYouLibrarians #LifelongLearners #SchoolLibrarianAppreciationDay

Due to flooding, we are advising all students to avoid using Million Dollar Road. Additionally, no buses will be traveling down Million Dollar Road at this time.
We have directly contacted the very few families affected by flooding on bus routes. We will provide an update regarding bus routes tomorrow morning.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Stay safe!

Good morning, Cross County families. Our administration has been out checking the roads this morning, and all bus routes are passable with no changes. Buses will run as usual. Please stay informed as we get more rain and conditions may change throughout the week. Thank you, and have a great day!

⚠️ Weather Advisory & Early Dismissal Notice ⚠️
Weather professionals have informed us that severe weather could be possible during normal transportation hours. Based on updated forecasts, the timing of this weather has shifted earlier than first anticipated. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
To ensure safe transportation home, Cross County School District will dismiss early today:
-Elementary car riders will begin loading at 1:45 p.m.
-High school car riders and student drivers will dismiss at 2:00 p.m.
-Buses will leave campus at 2:05 p.m.
-Bus riders can anticipate drop-off times approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes earlier than normal.
In the event of a tornado warning within Cross County School District or an approaching warning in neighboring counties such as Jackson or Woodruff, the high school safe room will be opened.
🚨 Please note: Safe rooms will not be open to the public during school hours when school is in session. There is simply not enough room, and we must prioritize the safety of our students and staff.
We will continue monitoring the weather throughout the night. This storm is expected to bring extreme rainfall and dangerous wind, potentially causing flooding and debris on roadways across the district. As with any inclement weather event, administration will assess road conditions, and bus routes may be adjusted prior to school on Thursday.
We will provide continued communication through text messages and social media. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize student safety.

Cross County School District is closely monitoring the severe weather forecast for Wednesday. Both our elementary and high schools are equipped with safe rooms that provide a secure area for all students and staff. Student safety remains our top priority.
At this time, no decision has been made regarding early dismissal. However, if an early dismissal becomes necessary, we will notify families via text message and social media.
As always, if we are under a tornado warning or in the path of a tornado warning, we will move students and staff to the safe rooms and remain there until conditions have cleared.
We will continue to track the weather and stay in communication with local and regional weather outlets. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation in keeping our school community safe.
