Cross County School District will hold a memorial service January 3, 2022 at 6:00 PM in the High School Gymnasium to remember and honor Mrs. Heather Callicott. It is with profound sadness to report that Mrs. Heather Callicott, 6th Grade teacher at CCES, passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2021. Mrs. Callicott cared very deeply for her students and the school. We will miss her very much and will spend many difficult moments grieving her loss. As a member of the Thunderbird family, Mrs. Callicott touched all of our lives with her great heart. Our sincerest condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time.
As the community processes this tragic news and copes with the grief, the school district will provide counseling and bereavement support services to all of our students and staff.

Cross County Schools will be closed next week, November 22-26 for Thanksgiving Break. Both school offices will be closed as well. The central office will be open Monday and Tuesday of next and will be closed Wednesday-Friday.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (November 11, 2021)
The latest ACHI data released Thursday, November 11, 2021 indicates Cross County School is now in the “dark green” level. Cross County School District’s mask policy states: If the Cross County School District falls within the “yellow” or “green” level based on the most recent data published by the Department of Health or the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement, then the District will no longer enforce a mandatory mask policy.
With the District falling below that threshold with the newly released data from ACHI, the Cross County School District will NO LONGER MANDATE WEARING MASKS AT THIS TIME, however, we still strongly encourage the wearing of face masks. We are excited for the decrease in cases and hope this trend continues.
The District will continue to follow all quarantine guidelines set forth by the Arkansas Department of Health and the CDC. We will continue to monitor the weekly ACHI data and if cases increase to “orange” or above, as the school board policy reads, we will reinstate the mandatory mask policy.
We are so excited to get this wonderful news from the state. This is the third year that we have received these funds. We will continue to use them on curriculum and academic supplies to best meet the needs of our students.

The Cross County School District is in the process of implementing more Character Education into our everyday curriculum. This is not a substitute for our regular academic curriculum, but simply embedding these values into everyday lessons. Some examples are respect, responsibility, citizenship, and resilience. We wanted to take this opportunity to obtain feedback from parents to ascertain what they feel are the most important character traits to see in our children, teachers and staff.
