Important weather announcement: In an abundance of caution with the threat of severe weather between 4:00 and 6:00 PM this afternoon, we want to be sure to get our students, staff, and bus drivers home safe before the severe weather arrives in our area. Cross County Schools will dismiss car riders and student drivers at 1:45 PM and buses will dismiss at 2:15 PM. There will be no after-school activities today and any scheduled activities will be cancelled. We anticipate arriving at Caldwell and Kelley’s in Wynne at approximately 2:30. All other stops will be about an hour and fifteen minutes earlier than normal.

Cross County School District is actively monitoring the weather and will be throughout the day. The District has safe rooms at both campuses that provide ample space for all students and staff. In the event students and staff are in the saferoom during an active tornado warning, there will be no way to enter the school to pick up your students. Saferooms are designed to be the safest place for students during these weather events. If the District decides to delay dismissal and/or afternoon bus routes, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Cross County High School has been made aware of and seen threatening messages in the boy’s restroom this week. Through vigilance and investigations, there were no messages found today. We will continue to be alert and work with our school resource officer and other local authorities, who will have a heightened presence at the school, to determine who is writing these messages. We take these kinds of messages seriously and will continue to monitor and investigate this as more information is discovered.
