With the continued threat of severe winter weather in our entire region, Cross County School District has made the decision to transition to AMI Day 2 for Thursday, February 3, 2022. No decision about Friday, February 4th has been made at this time, however, students will receive the opportunity to request breakfast and lunch meals for both Thursday and Friday in case roads remain dangerous on Friday. Those meals will be sent home with students today. While we hoped students would be able to attend school in person on Thursday, the impending weather forecast makes it infeasible. Our hope is that parents receive this information in enough time to plan for students to be working from home on Thursday and have the opportunity to receive meals to supplement students at home. As always, teachers will be available to answer any questions about student work. Please continue to monitor social media for more information concerning Friday, February 4th.

Congratulations to our Cross County Elementary School Spelling Bee winner Alyssa Patterson and runner up Howton Boyles!

January is School Board Member Recognition Month in Arkansas
Governor Asa Hutchinson signed a proclamation in November making January School Board Member Recognition Month in Arkansas. “School board members contribute countless hours to fulfilling their roles and responsibilities in setting the mission for their district,” according to the Proclamation.
School board members play an essential role in our community. Cross County School District is joining with other districts in Arkansas in celebration of our board by thanking them for the time, talents, and knowledge they bring to our district and for their commitment to the families and children of our community.
Elected school board members give our citizens a voice in education decision making. While they are recognized for their work in January, it is truly a year-round effort.
The members serving our district are as follows: Joan Ball - President, Shane Bell - Vice President. Craig Walker - Secretary, Ashley Armstrong, Derek Wood, Dewayne Cameron and Wade Halk.

Immediate Release: January 10, 2022

Due to several roads along our bus routes with ice patches and the possibility of black ice on paved roads in the morning, Cross County Schools will be closed tomorrow, January 7, 2022. Students will complete work for AMI day 1. Elementary students will access the work on their devices sent home and high school students will access work in Echo. Teachers will be available to assist if needed during the day through email or Remind.

In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion around the school and other roadways, Cross County Schools will dismiss car riders and student drivers at 1:30PM and bus riders at 2:15PM. Per normal procedures, elementary students will not be dropped off at home alone. The bus driver will bring them back to the school until an adult is able to pick them up. Devices for students 3-12 will be sent home. All after school events for today are canceled. Information regarding school tomorrow will be announced later.

Cross County Schools will be in session today. Please use caution coming to school today as some bridges may have developed ice patches. We are looking forward to a great day of learning and seeing the students at school today.

Cross County School District will hold a memorial service January 3, 2022 at 6:00 PM in the High School Gymnasium to remember and honor Mrs. Heather Callicott. We ask the community to send any pictures of Mrs. C. with her students as a direct message to the District in Messenger or to pics@crosscountyschools.com.

December 21, 2021:
It is with profound sadness to report that Mrs. Heather Callicott, 6th Grade teacher at CCES, passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2021. Mrs. Callicott cared very deeply for her students and the school. We will miss her very much and will spend many difficult moments grieving her loss. As a member of the Thunderbird family, Mrs. Callicott touched all of our lives with her great heart. Our sincerest condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time.
As the community processes this tragic news and copes with the grief, the school district will provide counseling and bereavement support services to all of our students and staff.

Mrs. Misty and Mrs. Dana have completed their Positive Character and Culture Building Bingo cards. Thank you for your positive impact on our school!

Mrs. Amanda and Mrs. Trista are our latest t-birds to get a bingo on their Positive Character and Culture Bingo cards! Thank you for your efforts to have a positive impact on our school!

Coach King and Mrs. LeAmber are the first High School staff members to get Bingo on their Positive Character and Culture Building Bingo cards. Great job making an impact on our schools character and culture!

Please, help us continue to make a difference by donating to our school food pantry that provides essential food bags to those in need.

Ms. Kara, Ms. Kathleen, and Ms. Sarah display their positive character and culture building "Bingo" cards and gift cards today. It didn't take them long to Bingo. It only takes a few small tasks to make a large impact on the character and culture of a school.
